Our Actions Set A Worksheet packet contain a variety of solo, pair, and small group activities for beginner-level ESL students. These activities allow students to practice hearing, reading, and spelling action verbs as well as using them in speaking activities to tell what they, their friends, or others can do or like doing.
The 18 action verbs in this set correspond to the free Action Flashcards – Set A.

Worksheets Included:
2 Sets of Bingo Cards
Each bingo set contains 30 bingo cards + 1 call sheet and targets 18 action verbs. One set uses the base form of the verbs (clap, cry…), the second set uses the -ing form (clapping, crying...). The 3×3 grid design has 9 images with word labels per page.
4 Find Someone Who Games
Find Someone Who… is a game that activates the whole class at once. Students pair up and ask questions of their classmates. The goal is to find a different person whose name can fill each sentence on the page. Each worksheet has 7 incomplete sentences. Two worksheets use only positive declarative statements, the other two worksheets includes some sentences with the negative forms.

4 Labeling Worksheets
Students write the correct action words under the pictures to label them like a picture dictionary. 9 words per page, 2 worksheets for the base form and 2 worksheets for the -ing form of the verbs.

- Writing the -ing form of action verbs.
4 Matching Worksheets
Students draw a line to match either the action word or, in the worksheets for practicing -ing form, a short sentence (ex. She is dancing.) with the picture of the action. 9 target vocabulary words per page.

- Reading the base form of action verbs.
- Reading the -ing form of action verbs in short sentence format.
12 Sorting Worksheets
Students sort 8 or 9 action verbs per sheet into two or three groups. Most of the worksheets can be completed as either solo, pair, or small group activities.

- Worksheet 2: Babies can – Babies can’t + action verb
- Worksheet 3: All – Some – None of us can + action verb (Group work only)

3 Spelling Worksheets
Students write the -ing form of verbs into one of three columns based on spelling patterns:
- just add -ing
- double the final letter, then add -ing
- drop the final e before adding -ing
The base verb form is provided. Worksheets 1Â and 2 each have 9 works (half the target language list), while Worksheet #3 has all 18 words.

6 Surveys
The survey worksheets provide a chance for students to interview 2 or 3 their classmates and record their responses. There are 6 or 7 action verb prompts per page. Surveys with the same target language differ only in the number of partners to interview.
