Countable Food
FREE
18 countable food flashcards showing food items in plural.
Description
All the pictures in this set show plural food items that you can count. (Those pies are still uncut so they are countable, too!)
Use these cards for teaching food vocabulary and for practicing Do you like… ? / I like … / I don’t like… + food, and keep working on that final -s sound.

Thank you so much for finding these or drawing them, for hosting them, organising, everything. I’ve gotten a lot out of using these cards, over many years, and so have my students.
I think at least some people treat pie as uncountable. I like pie. I would like some pie. I like different kinds of pie. I would like a slice of pie.
You can also use it as a countable noun.
I’d like a pie, please.
But I think it’s ambiguous in use.
Again, thank you very, very much. If you’re taking suggestions those of us in East Asia would really appreciate Chinese New Year cards and I’m sure Cinco de Mayo or Dia de Los Muertes cards would be appreciated in Mexico and among many people of Mexican heritage in the USA.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions!
I agree, pie is surprisingly ambiguous 🙂 I was thinking that whole pies are countable and the picture of the slice of pie is a hint that there’s more to it which teachers could introduce selectively, depending on the class. However, it is rather confusing :S
That said, we are planning to add more flashcard sets later this year and a set of unit cards related to food and drink is on my list (slice of… , bottle of…, can of…, box of…, etc. ) Thanks for the ideas for international holidays, I will add those to my list as well. I appreciate you sharing your ideas!
Have a great day!
